If you know timber in QLD, you will know that there is a strip of sandy-loam duplex soil in the South / North Burnett that grows (very slowly) the best hardwood timber in Australia.
The Sables sits firmly in this golden belt with a lot of tall, straight, very dense and blemish free narrow-leaf Red Ironbark (Eucalyptus crebra) growing in 700 acres of managed forest.
We run a sustainable native forestry enterprise in line with a long-term Forest Management Plan. All forestry activities are carried out in accordance with the Native Forestry Code of Practice with the intention of productively using each tree from root to leaf. The genetic health of the forest is promoted by keeping the best, straightest trees to produce seed with only trees harvested which are past their prime or removed as part of thinning activities.
